Itinerary
Day One – February 3, 2025 Arrival in Hawaii
Today begins our grand adventure to the islands of Hawaii and Maui. We will depart from Portland airport (or your home airport) and arrive in Kona in the afternoon. We will take our luxury coach from Kona to the city of Hilo which will be our home for the next three nights. After checking in to the hotel we will have time to get settled and freshen up before our first group dinner tonight at the hotel.
Day Two – February 4, 2025 Local Gardens and WaterfallsToday we will take a leisurely pace and explore some of the beauty and gardens in this area of the island. We will have a slow morning of breakfast at the hotel and time to enjoy the hotel grounds before we leave to explore the Lili’uokalani Gardens. After time for lunch, we will make our way about 1/2 hour north to the Akaka Falls State Park. There a .4 mile loop path will take us past some of the most beautiful waterfalls and lush tropical forest you can see. We will return to the hotel for a little bit of free time before coming back together as a group for a wonderful dinner in a nearby restaurant.
Day Three – February 5, 2025 Kilauea Crater
Today we will start with a leisurely breakfast and morning at the hotel before we take off for the afternoon to explore the Kilauea Volcano National Park. We will start at the Visitor’s center and then take the incredible Chain of Craters Road and enjoy the incredible views and landscape that has been created by this active volcano. This evening we will enjoy dinner and the sunset from the Rim Restaurant for a delightful group dinner. Soon we will be back at our hotel for a free evening of relaxing island breezes.
Day Four – February 6, 2025 Ka’anapaaliThis morning enjoy breakfast at the hotel and get ready to move on to our next island of adventure. We will take the short flight from Kona to Maui and make our way to the Ka’anapaali OutRigger Resort. Once we arrive at the Outrigger, be prepared for a welcoming lei ceremony followed by some time to get settled into your rooms and prepare for a nice dinner together a local restaurant near the hotel.
Day Five – February 7, 2025 The Road to Hana
Today we will embark on a drive on the Road to Hana. Along the way and way back we will stop to see Lava Tubes, Maui Garden of Eden, Ke’anae Peninsula and Wai’anapanapa State Park. After the trip to Hana, we will return to the beach resort and the remainder of the afternoon and evening will be yours to enjoy the resort and nearby restaurants.
Day Six -February 8, 2025 Haleakala Crater Sunset ViewingToday will bring us an extraordinary view and experience. First, we will start the day with a great breakfast at the resort. A little later this morning, the group will take a short walk to Whaler’s Cove just down the beach from the resort. While there, we will explore the Hawaii Wildlife Center and learn about the local, native wildlife and flora of the island. The Hawaii Wildlife Center has an interesting mix of local art and historical artifacts and information about the history of the islands. After enjoying the center, we will take a break for lunch at a local restaurant right there in the same complex. After lunch, we will head back to the resort and get ready for our trip to the Haleakala Crater for a sunset view worth the wait and drive. This is one of the most sought after experiences on the island – bring your cameras!! Tonight we will return to our hotel and enjoy dinner at a restaurant very close.
Day Seven – February 9, 2025 Free Day in Ka’anaapali and Luau
Today will be your day to do as you please! The Outrigger has a great deal to offer and there are many options for tours and boating excursions. Or, it could be a great day to enjoy the beach and resort. Just be back and ready to enjoy the great food and exciting cultural entertainment at tonight’s Luau. Bring your appetite and be ready for some fun!
Day Eight – February 10, 2025 Journey Home
Today we will enjoy our final breakfast at the hotel and have some time for one more stroll on the beach. After, we will make our way back to the airport for the flight home.
