New York State of Mind – 2025!!
New York in June! One of the nicest times to visit this iconic city and state! While New York City is the main focus of this tour, we are going to take a couple of days to see some other things first. Come with OregonWest as we visit the incredible Niagara Falls, make our way through the central part of New York State stopping to visit incredible museums, eat at the Culinary Institute of America and tour West Point – all before we get to the city. While in the Big Apple, we will visit some of the most well-known places in the world. From Ellis Island to Wall Street and the One World Observatory, we will explore this beautiful city. We will also enjoy two Broadway productions and stay in the heart of the city steps from Times Square. This is going to be an epic tour and we hope you will join!!
What to Expect on this Tour:
Day 1 –Portland to Buffalo
Today we will get an early start and make our usual pickup locations in Salem, Woodburn & Tualatin. Our flight will take us to Buffalo, NY, where we will climb aboard our waiting luxury coach. From Buffalo, we will take a short drive to the Hyatt Regency Niagara Falls, NY. After checking into the hotel and taking some time to freshen up, the group will head out for the tour kick off dinner at a restaurant nearby with great views!
Day 2 – Niagara Falls Up Close
Start your day with a hot breakfast at the hotel, but be ready to go by 8:30AM as we head to the Maid of the Mist and exploration of the incredible Niagara Falls. Make sure to put your poncho on as the Maid of the Mist will get you up close and personal with the falls that in some places reach up to 175 feet in height! After enjoying the falls, we will grab some boxed lunches and depart for Corning, NY. Once we have arrived, the Corning Museum & Rockwell Museum will be our first stop! After exploring the museums, we will check into the Hampton Inn Painted Post and have some time to freshen up before we go out for group dinner at a nice local restaurant.
Day 3 – Vanderbilt Mansion & Culinary Institute of America
Start your morning with breakfast at the hotel before the group begins the short journey to Poughkeepsie, NY. Once we reach our destination, we will enjoy a group lunch before visiting the Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site. We will take a group tour of this incredible monument to the post Civil War Gilded Age. After exploring the mansion museum, you will check into the Best Western Inn & Suites of Poughkeepsie. Take some time to rest and freshen up before we head out for dinner at the Culinary Institute of America. This incredible campus sits right on the Hudson River and provides excellent dining opportunities for those visiting!
Day 4 – FDR Museum & West Point, then New York, NY
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning before the group makes their way to the FDR Presidential Library & Museum. Take some time to explore the library and museum. Grab a light lunch at Uncle Sam’s Canteen before we depart for West Point Military Academy. Once we arrive, we will have step-on guide join our group as they lead us through the campus and provide history of this key defensive position during the American Revolution that in 1804 became the country’s foremost academy for military leaders. Soon, we will make the last drive into New York city where we will check into the Hampton Inn Manhattan/Times Square. Tonight we will enjoy dinner together at a restaurant near the hotel.
Day 5 – Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty & Broadway Show #1
After starting with breakfast at the hotel, the rest of the day will be geared toward visiting some of the most important landmarks and locations the city has to offer: Ellis Island, The Statue of Liberty, 9/11 Memorial, and One World Observatory.
Day 6 – Manhattan Island Boat Tour, Empire State Building & Broadway Show #2
Grab a hot breakfast to start your day today before we jump on the coach and head out to see a few more important sights around the city. We will start with a full boat tour around the entire Manhattan Island. Grab a light lunch or snacks while on the boat before we disembark and the group makes their way to Empire State Building for an expedited trip to the most well-known observation deck in the world on the 86th Floor of this incredible landmark. After enjoying the Empire State Building, the group will head back to the hotel. You will have some time to freshen up or do some more exploring near the hotel, before we meet for our final tour dinner before going to see Broadway Show #2.
Day 7 – Central Park & Home
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading to Central Park for our final activity of the tour. Central Park has so much to see and do and enjoy! Be sure to grab some lunch before we climb back on the coach for the ride to the airport and our flight home. You will be returning home with great memories of the beautiful state of New York and the incredible city at the heart of it all!
