Day 1 – Tuesday February 7th – Home to Sacramento  
Welcome to Sacramento! Our first stop is the historic Railroad Museum. It is a complex of historic facilities and unique attractions and is widely regarded as one of North America’s finest railroad museums. Our home for the night is the Embassy Suites located in Old Sacramento… it looks over the Sacramento River, next to the iconic Tower Bridge. You’ll have time to get cozy in your room before the nightly managers reception featuring complementary cocktails, wine, beer, and snacks. Dinner tonight is on board the fabulous Delta King… an authentic 285 foot riverboat! The Delta King in Old Sacramento is a unique Sacramento treasure. Experience old world charm and service complimented by modern amenities and acclaimed cuisine. Although the she doesn’t cruise any longer, she remains a permanent landmark on the river. Day 2 – Wednesday February 8th – Sacramento to Reno
After breakfast we’ll head to the Sacramento Capitol Museum. The beautiful state capitol is surrounded by 40 acres of garden. This “Mini White House” is a must see!  Or you have the option to explore Old Sacramento on your own… This national historic landmark overflows with things to see and do such as horse-drawn carriage rides and dozens of restaurants and lots of specialty shops. We meet up later this morning to head to the train station for our train ride over the Donner Pass. From the lush Sacramento Valley, through the historic Mother Lode Country, to the top of the High Sierras that stand 7,056 feet high… The pass gets its name from the ill-fated Donner Party who overwintered here in 1846. Today the area is home to a thriving recreational community with several alpine lakes and ski resorts. let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! This is one of America’s most spectacular rail rides! Our home for the night is the Peppermill Casino & Resort… this premier AAA four diamond resort. Day 3 – Thursday February 9th – Reno to Lake Tahoe
We’ll say goodbye to Reno this morning and make our way to Lake Tahoe with a few fun stops along the way. First it’s Virginia City Nevada… a booming mining town that has many preserved Victorian Italianate-style mansions and historic landmarks. Walk the streets and visit the Ponderosa or Chollar Mine or take a ghost tour… watch out a gunfight might break out at any time? We’ll head to Carson City the Capitol of Nevada, where a scrumptious lunch awaits at Bodine’s. After lunch we’ll head to the Nevada State Museum… Take a walk-through time. Your first step brings you into the former Carson City Mint building where coins were minted from 1870 to 1893 – 57 issues of silver, all bearing the distinguishing “CC” mint mark. On display is the formidable Coin Press No. 1 and a complete set of Carson City Morgan dollars. We’ll also learn about the Chinese Woodcutters in the Great Basin… The exhibit will highlight the significance of the woodcutting community near Chinese Camp (Aurora), Nevada, shedding light on the little-known history of the Chinese woodcutters who lived there and felled piñon (or pinyon) pines to supply charcoal and firewood to the mining camps of Bodie and Aurora from approximately 1875 to 1915. We’ll make our way to Lake Tahoe and our home for the next two nights Harrah’s… Set against the gorgeous landscape of the Sierra Nevadas. Your evening is free to play the slots and tables at the casino, reserve a table at a world-class restaurant, or just relax and enjoy the views. Harrah’s Lake Tahoe (B, L)

Day 4 – Friday February 10th – Lake Tahoe local touring
Our first stop today is UC Davis Science Center… dive into Lake Tahoe without getting wet! Explore the interactive exhibits, learn about the lake ecosystem, and why it’s changing, and find out how you can keep Tahoe blue. Learn the latest findings from the world-class UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center (TERC), a global leader in research, education, and public outreach on Lakes. Next board the Tahoe Queen, a historical sternwheeler paddle boat, where you can step back in time to the days of Mark Twain and the Mississippi River boats. Enjoy the unsurpassed beauty of Lake Tahoe as we enjoy lunch on our two & a half hour cruise. We’ll head back to the resort to rest up or try your luck at the casino. Tonight, we meet up in our private room for a reception while playing a “White Elephant Game” (optional) before our farewell dinner. Harrah’s Lake Tahoe (B, L, D)

Day 5 – Saturday February 11th Lake Tahoe to home
Enjoy the scenery as we make our way back to Sacramento… we will be traveling along the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Join us for a scenic fun tour during a unique time of the year. Average temperature in Lake Tahoe in February is 45 degrees… Cheers! (B)
